On March 12 everyone is invited to attend our silent auction from 7-10 PM. Bidding will immediately start, and guests will be able to bid on a selection of rickshaw runners. At 9:30 PM the bidding will close, and we will announce the winners. The opening bid is $50.00.
On April 2, these winners will compete in a race named The Great Crohn's Crusade. In this race, each contestant will ride in a rickshaw pulled by the runner they won at the auction. The race will be roughly 2-3 hours long and will span a large portion of Ottawa. The contestants will be required to complete a scavenger hunt to conclude the race. The winners of the race will win a grand prize.
The Grand Prize:
A trip for four to New York City!
This three-day trip includes travel to the city, as well as accommodations.

Silent Auction Venue Announcement: La Petite Mort Gallery
We are proud to finally announce the venue for our silent auction. The auction will be held at La Petite Mort Gallery located at 306 Cumberland St, in Ottawa. The event will begin at 7pm and close at 10pm on March 12, with the silent auction running from 7 until 9. Winners will be announced after a short presentation. We will have door prizes and a donation jar on-site, and the gallery will have a bar with drinks for those so inclined.
| La Petite Mort Gallery at 306 Cumberland St. |
La Petite Mort Gallery is owned and directed by Guy Bérubé, who has 25 years of experience in art and interior design in Ottawa, Montreal, New York, Paris, and San Francisco. The gallery specializes in subversive art, focused on subjects set outside mainstream culture and society. While the gallery’s subject matter can be uncomfortable, Bérubé insists that this discomfort provides an open forum for inclusion and interactivity to those alienated from the status quo.
The gallery walls will be garnished with works of art during the silent auction, providing our event with a rich and unique setting. Bérubé was generous enough to provide this space for a discounted price.

Let The Race Begin!
Crohn's and Colitis are Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) that probably affect somebody you know. One in every 160 Canadians are inflicted with an IBD. Ottawa Rickshaws feels that this is a cause worth some serious attention.
This year we are turning our attention to Crohn's and Colitis and will be fundraising for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC). The CCFC is a national organization that raises money for IBD research, but also facilitates third party fundraisers like ours.
We've named our event The Great Crohn's Crusade. On March 12th we will be hosting a silent auction at which the public will be given the opportunity to bid on our rickshaw runners. Bidders will be informed of each runner's strengths and weaknesses accordingly.
Those who win their desired runner will be entered into a city-wide scavenger hunt race. They will participate in this race from within a rickshaw, pulled by the runner that they won. The race will be held on April 2nd, in the late morning. The winning team in the race will win a grand prize that will be worth such a grueling gauntlet! Competitors will also be treated to a complementary lunch.
This year we hope to beat last year's score and raise over $2500.00. We can only do this with your help!

| Ottawa Rickshaws presenting a gigantic check to CHEO |
Last year we managed to raise a little over $2000.00 for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). We held an event in May called "Tight and Bright for CHEO." Our rickshaw runners tirelessly worked all weekend and generously donated half of their proceeds to CHEO. Our friend Bill Welychka at the A-Channel News helped us to publicize our event, and I would say it was a huge success.

This year we hope to beat last year's score and raise over $2500.00. We can only do this with your help!
Here are some ways you can help:
- Spread the word! We need publicity for this to work. If this sounds like a fun idea, tell your friends, workmates, classmates! Join our facebook event and invite your friends too!
- Offer assistance! Contact myself (adam@rickshaws.ca) or event-planner Jessica Hawkes (jessica-0003@hotmail.ca) and ask how you can join the Crusade!
- Play the Game! Come to our silent auction and bid on a rickshaw runner! It may help to pool funds with your office, friends, hockey team, or yoga class and enter a duo to compete in the race. Remember, the money is for a very good cause (especially if you know someone with IBD!)
- Donate and Pledge! If you can't attend the event, we still appreciate donations! I will be setting up a paypal account soon to make this really easy. We are also accepting material donations to raffle during the auction.
